Park Spirit members are both eligible and encouraged to autonomously host meetings, host events, initiate/work on projects, and initiate/work on community groups. All meetings, events, projects, and community groups operate autonomously under the auspices, and subject to both the review and approval of, Park Spirit’s Board of Directors.

to meet your park and public space interests, passions, and efforts

Meetings

Scope: An in-person or virtual gathering that is free and open to the general public for discussing or working on a topic supporting Park Spirit’s mission: to promote the protection, enhancement, and use of Worcester’s parks and public spaces.

Requirements: Scheduled at least 7 days in advance via Activity Request Form, with Volunteer Tracking Form submit along with meeting minutes following the meeting. 

Terms: Park Spirit will provide administrative support (scheduling and meeting notices posted digitally) and ZOOM hosting upon request.

Costs: Free, unless meeting location requires booking or administrative fee.

events

Scope: An in-person or virtual gathering open to the general public on a topic supporting Park Spirit’s mission: to promote the protection, enhancement, and use of Worcester’s parks and public spaces.

Requirements: Scheduled at least 14 days in advance via Activity Request Form, with Volunteer Tracking Form following the event. Events may require permitting through the Department of Public Works and Parks and may require liability insurance. All events and event participants must be in compliance with City of Worcester ordinances and Commonwealth of Massachusetts laws.

Terms: Park Spirit will provide administrative support (basic operating information, scheduling and event notices posted digitally). Fundraising, bookkeeping, and purchasing facilitation available with administrative fee to be determined based on scope of event and number of transactions.

Costs: Free, unless: location requires booking or administrative fee; or event includes fundraising, bookkeeping, and purchasing.


PROJECTS

Scope: An effort undertaken by an autonomous working group that is related to or supplemental to Park Spirit’s mission: to promote the protection, enhancement, and use of Worcester’s parks and public spaces.

Requirements: Activity Request Form submit prior to initiation of any formal project work and Volunteer Tracking Form following the completion of any project work. Activity Request Forms submit for any supplemental meeting or event related to this project. Events may require permitting through the Department of Public Works and Parks and may require liability insurance. All events and event participants must be in compliance with City of Worcester ordinances and Commonwealth of Massachusetts laws.

Terms: Park Spirit will provide administrative support (basic operating information, meeting and event schedules/notices posted digitally). Administrative support negotiated on a case-by-case basis with the Board of Directors and dependent on project scope and revenue generation; financial/banking services; meeting and event frequency

Costs: TBD, reviewed and renegotiated annually based on above criteria

GROUPS

Community Group/Member Organization: Autonomously operating as an independent member organization, with Park Spirit’s board acting as fiduciary agent.

Scope: A formal group committed to working together on a shared goal/interest that is related to or supplemental to Park Spirit’s mission: to promote the protection, enhancement, and use of Worcester’s parks and public spaces.

Requirements: All decisionmakers/administrators hold active Park Spirit membership. Activity Request Form submit prior to initiation of any formal group work and Volunteer Tracking Form following the completion of any project work. Activity Request Forms submit for any supplemental meeting or event related to this project. Events may require permitting through the Department of Public Works and Parks and may require liability insurance. All events and event participants must be in compliance with City of Worcester ordinances and Commonwealth of Massachusetts laws.

Terms: Park Spirit will provide administrative support (basic operating information, meeting and event schedules/notices posted digitally). Administrative support negotiated on a case-by-case basis with the Board of Directors and dependent on project scope and revenue generation; financial/banking services; meeting and event frequency. One designee will serve on the Board of Directors.

Costs: TBD, starting at $50/year, reviewed and renegotiated annually based on above criteria
